2008 CHR Live Green Resident Events Highlights

Chestnut Hill Realty had a successful first year since launching the CHR Live Green Initiative in 2007. As part of the initiative, several contests and events were hosted atl each of our apartment communities to promote awareness.

November 24, 2008 — Norwood Gardens Recycling Challenge Party, Norwood Gardens, Norwood, MA
Over the months of October and November, we challenged our Norwood Gardens residents to recycle more! And they did, weekly filling their recycling toters to overflowing, more bins were necessary to keep with the residents' great work! The property celebrated these great results with a Breakfast on the Run, where residents were greeted with coffee and breakfast on their way to work.

October 2008 — Regency Plaza Electricity Contest, Regency Plaza, Providence, RI
Over the month of October, the Regency Plaza residents competed against their neighbors of the same bedroom style to reduce their electricity usage. There was a 1st and 2nd place winner for each style. The 1st place winners of each bedroom style received a $100 American Express gift card and Green Gift Bag (filled with items to green your life). The 2nd place winner of each bedroom style will receive a Green Gift Bag.

October 2008 — Beacon and Fairbanks Recycling Contest, Beacon and Fairbanks Manor, Brookline, MA
Over the month of October, we challenged our Beacon and Fairbanks Manor residents to recycle more! The residents pulled together and increased their recycling by 76%!! Way to go, Beacon and Fairbanks!! The property celebrated these outstanding results with a pizza party!

August 20, 2008 — Swap and Meet picnic, Waterfall Hills at Canton, Canton, MA
Waterfall Hills at Canton hosted a Swap and Meet picnic. Close to fifty residents joined in to "recycle and reuse" books, cds, dvds and toys. There was a green gift raffle and the event created a good sense of "neighborhood" with the residents and the staff.

June 25, 2008 — Ridgecrest Village Recycling Challenge Party, Ridgecrest Village, West Roxbury, MA
Over the month of May, we challenged our Ridgecrest Village residents to recycle more! And they did- increasing their recycling levels by 27%! The property celebrated these outstanding results with a Summer Festival.

June 21, 2008 — D. Blakely Hoar Sanctuary Nature Walk, Hancock Village, Chestnut Hill, MA
On June 21st, Christine Dean from the Brookline Conservation Commission will be hosting a nature walk through the D. Blakely Hoar Sanctuary. This is a 25 Acre natural area abutting Hancock Village along the beginning of Gerry Road and entrance to the Baker School tennis courts. There will be a one hour morning and afternoon walk for both adults and children. These walks will be sponsored by Chestnut Hill Realty Green Task Force for the residents of Hancock Village. Rain or Shine so please dress appropriately. Walks are scheduled for 10am and 2pm.
