Labor Day is a big weekend for us here at CHR! Many of us celebrate the holiday with picnics, parties, and BBQs, but for those of us around the greater Boston, MA area, Labor Day is affectionately known as Boston Moving Day. Whether you are moving this weekend or enjoying the extra day off, we suggest making the time to have a picnic and take advantage of the end of summer. Many of our apartment communities such as Norwood Gardens Apartments and Waterfall Hills Apartments (pictured above) have excellent areas to set up a picnic, but really a blanket on your apartment floor will get the job done.

THE MAKE-AHEAD PICNIC
You have the time to make a nicer picnic, but that doesn't mean you need to spend all morning in the kitchen. Here's a menu that will take minimal effort and you can make it ahead of time.
Raspberry Leaf Iced Tea:
Delicious and caffeine free, raspberry leaf tea tastes like a robust black tea. In a large heat resistant bowl put in four tea bags, 1/4 cup of honey, and the juice of a lemon. Pour a liter of hot water into the bowl and stir. Cover the bowl and let the tea steep for 15 minutes. Remove the bags and let cool before transferring to a beverage container and putting in the refrigerator.
Because it's just not a picnic without potato salad and you don't need to peel the potatoes! Added bonus: Blue cheese is a brilliant additional to this favorite side. Click on the name to view the recipe.
Skip the bread and feel decadent with a buttery croissant. You can make whatever combination you like, but we suggest cracked pepper deli turkey, provolone, roasted red peppers, and honey mustard.
This is an easy single portion cake that works well travelling in a basket. Make these the day before to allow them to cool completely. Click on the name to view the recipe.
