Circle Friday, February 6th in red on your calendars! That’s the day CHR will join the American Heart Association’s (AHA) fight against heart disease by holding Wear Red Day. CHR is encouraging employees to participate by wearing red to work and donating $5 to help the AHA raise women’s awareness of cardiovascular disease and empower women to reduce their risk. CHR raised $1800 last year, and we hope to beat that number this year.
In 2003, the AHA and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute took action against a disease that was claiming the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year – a disease that women weren’t paying attention to. It is a disease they truly believe affects more men than women. Stemming from that action, National Wear Red Day was born. It’s held on the first Friday in February every year to raise awareness about heart disease being the No. 1 killer of women.
