There's something about that fall air that makes Columbus Day so special. Here are three things for your three day weekend to ensure you get the most out of it.
Head of The Charles: Cambridge is nice year round, but on the day of the Head of the Charles Regatta, it's special. Since in 1965, HOCR has welcomed the world's best crew teams to race on the famed Charles River for a two day rowing event. Go and cheer on your alma mater or just enjoy the crowds. The race runs from 8AM - 5PM on Saturday and Sunday. Visit their site for more info.
Wellfleet Oyster Festival: Sea-foodies look forward all year to the Wellfleet Oyster Festival. In its 15th year, you can enjoy your share of shellfish as well as other fun music and activities. The festival runs two days so consider bunking up somewhere local for the night to get the best experience. For tickets and more info, visit their site.
Applefest: Head to Wachusett Mountain for their 32nd annual Applefest and partake in many activities such as live music, an authentic German Oktoberfest, pie eating contests, and the Punkin Chunkin. This machine fires pumpkins off into the air every 15 minutes throughout the day. Who wouldn't want to flying gourds? For tickets and info, visit their site.
