CHR's charity of the month for February is the American Heart Association. On Friday, February 3rd , CHR was in full support of GO RED for Women day, a holiday started by the American Heart Association to bring awareness for women's heart health. CHR employees were rocking their red attire and making a $5 donation in support of this great cause.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined. Back in 2003, the AHA and National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute estimated that heart disease had claimed nearly 500,000 lives of American women annually, so they decided to take action. Since the movement has begun, 21% less women are dying from heart disease each year and 23% more women are aware that heart disease is their number one threat. Each February, CHR joins the campaign to both create awareness of the issue and show support for women with heart disease and stroke.
